Donna Vekic, who left at the start of the season in Italy because of a stress fracture of her back, will be in Mexico City, where she will undergo a stress test with a spinal specialist, who will check the extent of her injuries.
But Vekic’s body is full of fears ahead of the final. She has been on the verge of tears in the weeks leading up to the clash with Guadalajara.
“It’s very hard to prepare. First, a friend of mine gave me the names of the three players who can play in the final and it was not easy to find them,” Vekic told Radio Campesinos.
“Then, there was no time, as everyone had to get their own flights. That’s when I learned I would have to travel alone. Now there are three girls with me and I have to fly alone again tomorrow. I am a bit sad now because I was going to fly to Guadalajara and to be on the plane alone, I didn’t want anyone to know I was on my way to see the Guadalajara final.
